The BJ's Pizzaria Restaurants and Brewhouse chain is a growing empire of eateries which started right here in Southern California. What originally began in Santa Ana in 1978 has now spread nationwide in a big way!We're talking about BJ's Restaurants here, and Orange County's own city of Santa Ana was where it all began. By the early 1990's, this restaurant which specialized in making great tasting, deep dish Chigago-style pizza had already spread throughout Southern California. But...locals thought of it as their "own little secret." No more! There are now 60 locations of BJ's Restaurants spread out over several dozen states of the USA. And the pizza? Thankfully, it's still there...and still a featured item. BUT...the menu has now expanded and even pizza & pasta haters are going to find something to eat at BJ's which they'll absolutely love. What types of foods can you enjoy at a BJ's pizza restaurant? Well, most certainly you'll be able to get a traditional deep-dish pizza brimming with tomato-based sauce & covered with pepperoni, sausage, and all the other veggies & trimmings which pizza-lover have always enjoyed. And, you'll find a whole slew of traditional Italian-style pastas & calzones. But...now you can try a few non-traditional pizza flavors, as well...such as BBQ or blackened chicken. And the entree list is getting lengthy! One member of your party might choose a hamburger or sandwich...while another selects the BBQ ribs...while your kids choose their own special mini-selections from the children's menu. In the past decade, the BJ's restaurant chain has begun to brew their own suds. There are 8 different restaurant locations which actually have a micro-brewery on-premesis; but the other restaurant locations also serve the proprietary brews. In the dessert department, BJ's now has their own special dessert. Called the "Pizookie" this desert is a soft, fresh-baked cookie topped with ice cream. But, there's more on the dessert menu than giant cookies. In fact, there's a whole list, including such favorites as chocolatey brownies a la mode, or home-style apple crisp. Just how popular have BJ's restaurants become? During Spring 2007, a new BJ's Restaurant opened in the northern LA County city of Palmdale. Right around 2,000 people crowded into the restaurant on grand opening day! If you still haven't tried BJ's pizza's and other down-home cooking, there's no better time than the present...because these days, no matter where you're headed around Southern California, a BJ's location won't be far.
