Bebe stores sell trendy women's clothing aimed at the age 21 to 35 crowd. Perhaps "overly trendy" might be a good word to use for Bebe's clothing line; the type of stuff that young women love because it's up to the moment, but then hate to wear a few months down the road because the pieces quickly look dated.Bebe's clothing is not inexpensive, either; young women are forking over plenty of cash to wear the Bebe look. True, there are numerous clothing brands on the market these days that cost as much as Bebe apparel does. Some brands, however, can be thought of as being an "investment." That is, the garments cost more than other brands because of superior quality of material and workmanship...which should lead to a woman's wardrobe retaining its proper fit and lasting a long time. With Bebe clothing, there's no point in paying "investment" prices because the clothing isn't going to be in style long enough to wear it very long.
In other words, if you wanted to amass a Bebe wardrobe on a cubicle salary, you would not spending your money in the most effective manner. The Bebe company creates a "gotta have it" type allure by hiring popular actresses to model its clothing lines and by posing its models in seductive positions. This makes their clothing seem much more exciting than other brands...when the reality is this: once you walk out the store, you've simply got a shirt or shorts whose clone can be found at a less-expensive store. Is that the way a young woman on a limited salary should really be spending her money? Furthermore, the outfits seen in store advertising are often "layered looks," consisting of a number of pieces from the line's current catalog. By the time you add up the dollar amount for the various clothing and accessory pieces used to create "the look," you will have spent, in some cases, $500+. It's not that Bebe clothing isn't cute; that's the problem. It IS cute. It's too tempting to buy for some people on tight budgets who shouldn't be considering it. If you fall into that category, consider shopping at Bebe stores for special occasions only.
