Talk about a traditional American classic! Abraham Lincoln was wearing a custom-made Brooks frock coat on the unfortunate evening he went to a performance at Washington DC's Ford Theater.Or, have you ever wondered why Brooks Brothers has a line of men's suit called "1818?" It just so happens that 1818 was the founding year of the original Brooks store in New York City!
So, yes, Brooks Brothers is really, truly an American tradition. At a Brooks Brothers' store, you get added value for your money...for, in addition to the high quality materials and standards of production which go into their products, you'll purchase products which won't be out of style next year...or maybe even 5 years from now, for many items.
And yet, there are some ways in which Brooks Brothers has changed over the years. The most obvious is that this originally "men-only" store has branched out into boy's wear...and women's apparel/accessories, as well!
At least this year, anyway, another way Brooks Brothers is showing their untraditional side is by the colors used in some of their men's products. Bright green in a necktie? Pink dress shirts? Yes, Brooks Brothers sells them!
Brooks Brothers -- The Merchandise
To many people, the words "Brooks Brothers" and "men's business suits" go hand-in-hand. It's true...dapper men's suits are a large cornerstone of the Brooks Brothers business.
However, Brooks Brothers also sells a wide range of merchandise. You'll find not only suits, but also: formalwear, shoes, socks, underwear, pajamas, men's nightshirts (!), women's handbags & silk scarves, both knit and woven shirts, belts, sweaters, vests and pants.
