Disneyland Dining and Menus, part 2 -- Main Street and Fantasyland Restaurants

In the last section of "Disneyland Dining," we talked about important general info concerning the Disneyland restaurants; the prices of beverages at Disneyland (which are the same throughout the park); and menus for the several restaurants in the "land" of New Orleans Square. If you missed reading about these topics, you may...return to "Disneyland Dining and Menus, part 1" now.

On THIS page---Disneyland Dining and Menus, part 2---we'll discuss sample menus that you'll find in restaurants on Main Street USA and in Fantasyland. As in part 1, we'll stick to talking about just "restaurants," and won't cover the items sold in the snack shops (like the bakery, ice cream store, or candy shop.)

Disney Dining and Menus for restaurants in Main Street USA

The Plaza Inn

The most illustrious Disney Dining meal to be found on Main Street USA is the Minnie Mouse and Pals Character Breakfast held every morning at the Plaza Inn (on the hub near the entrance to Tomorrowland.) Every day from park-opening time until 11 am, Minnie Mouse and her friends will delight your child as you dine at an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet in this beautiful, turn-of-the-20th-century-style restaurant.

The buffet itself is a delectable assortment of familiar breakfast foods---scrambled (and other styles of) eggs, french toast, pancakes, Mickey-shaped waffles, home-made biscuits, sweet rolls, fresh fruit, and luscious strawberry topping for the waffles and pancakes. Yet, as good as the food is, your family will undoubtedly come away remembering the antics of the Disney Characters more...in fact, it's the memories-for-a-lifetime kind of experience. Don't forget to bring your cameras!

Once Minnie and her friends have said "goodbye," then Plaza Inn begins to serve lunch...and stays open for dinner as well. Here's a sample of entrees served at the Plaza Inn---

***Meat Entrees, such as fried or broasted chicken, or beef pot roast. These entrees come with rolls, potatoes and vegetables for the price of $12--15.

***Pasta Dishes, such as Penne Pasta or Fettuccine served with your choice of sauce (marinara, alfredo, and more). Pasta entrees are served with Italian bread, and run in the $11--$13 range.

***Main-Dish Salads, such as the popular Cobb Salad (which contains eggs, tomatoes, chicken and bacon served over a bed of iceberg and romaine lettuce and topped with bleu cheese dressing.)

***Hearty Children's Meals, only $6, including beverage, same as at all restaurants in the park.

The Carnation Cafe

A popular restaurant on mid-Main Street since Disneyland's opening, the Carnation Cafe is one of the few restaurants in the park (other than the Plaza Inn) that serves breakfast.

Scurry down to the Plaza Inn after your arrival in the park to grab your spot at one of the darling patio tables, located in a side-courtyard off Main Street.

For breakfast, you may choose one of the very-popular Mickey Mouse waffles, or perhaps a hearty egg-and-meat breakfast croissant sandwich. A selection of other popular breakfast standards are served here as well---a variety of egg styles, hash browns, pancakes, etc.

When lunch rolls around, a new menu--of course--takes effect. Here are some of the lunch/dinner entrees offered at the Carnation Cafe---

***Gourmet Sandwiches are the hottest seller for lunch at the Carnation Cafe, and this restaurant sells a delicious variety, on fresh-baked croissants, cheese bread or honey whole wheat. They include the famous-to-the-regulars "butcher block" sandwich plates, featuring turkey, ham, or tuna and cheese, or a vegetable combo sandwhich. The butcher block sandwiches are piled high with lettuce, tomato and your choice of dressing, and range from $8--9 dollars. As an alternative, you may order a half-sandwich with a cup of soup for the same price.

***Traditional Entrees---such as pot roast, chicken pot pies, and pastas are also served here, and each includes a side dish. Prices range from $9 to $13.

The Refreshment Corner

I'm including the Refreshment Corner in this listing, although I don't think it's a good value for your money. Hot dogs are the main menu item here, and each one costs a whopping $5--6! However, the courtyard dining area of The Refreshment Corner features an amazing rag-time piano player, who has a large repertoire of tunes memorized to no-mistakes perfection. I DO recommend stopping awhile to sit and listen, if you have the time. Perhaps you could sip a cooling beverage as you relax and rest your feet while you listen.

Disney Dining and Menus --- Fantasyland

Next in this "Disney Dining and Menus" guide, we'll discuss the restaurants of Fantasyland. Actually, "restaurants, pleural" is inaccurate, for Fantasyland only has one restaurant. That's the Village Haus restaurant, located across from the "Casey Jr." train ride, and next to the Pinocchio ride.

The large Village Haus restaurant has both indoor (air conditioned!) and patio dining. Indoors, you'll find a Pinocchio-themed decor. Outdoors, you'll enjoy the pleasant California weather and views of the colorful Fantasyland rides.

THE VILLAGE HAUS RESTAURANT

The menu at the Village Haus includes---

***Burgers and fries. Several selections are available, and run in the &6--7 price range.

***Individual slice of pizza with side salad. Only 2 pizza choices are available---cheese or pepperoni. (Actually, cheese and pepperoni are the only 2 pizzas available at ANY of the pizza restaurants in Disneyland or Disneys California Adventure!)

***Main-dish salads. Salads at the Village Haus include both the "fruit salad" and the "lettuce-based" varieties, and cost around $7.

***Sandwiches.A few choices of sandwiches (served with chips) are available, and cost around $7.

***Kids meals. For $6, children receive a meal in a souvenir box plus a beverage. Especially popular at the Village Haus are the "Mickey-shaped" chicken nuggets, which are served with a choice of french fries or fresh carrots.
