If you haven't yet visited the vibrant Downtown Disney Anaheim, (located on beautiful, palm-lined Disneyland Drive adjacent to Disneyland Park), you'll certainly WANT to drop by on your next Disneyland visit! Added in 2001, Downtown Disney is now a key component of the Disneyland Resort. The California Downtown Disney boasts scrumptious dining opportunities, stores featuring high-quality, unique merchandise and entertainment for both kids and adults in your family. Downtown Disney Anaheim is RIGHT NEXT DOOR to Disneyland Park---only a few steps away! So, you can easily see Downtown Disney on a trip to Disneyland Park. The Disneyland Monorail station in Downtown Disneyland makes this area handy for same-day exploring. You can even take the monorail to Downtown Disney for lunch or dinner, then quickly return to the park. PLUS, Downtown Disney Anaheim AND Disneyland Park are BOTH adjacent to Disney's California Adventure, as well! What could be more convenient? My grandson, Gabriel, is drawn-like-a-magnet to the Downtown Disney Anaheim's Lego Store. And, since your son may just well be interested in Legos, too, the Lego Store is where I'll start.The Lego Store in Downtown Disney [phone number (714) 991-6512] is hard to miss---it's large and yellow! As you step inside the door, the effect is no less dramatic---you're greeted by a 23 foot tall made-of-Legos giraffe! In fact, the whole store is decorated with various whimsical statues made entirely from Legos---and it will amaze you how much creativity and planning must have gone into producing them! Around the store, you'll find displays of Lego kits for sale, grouped by theme. (The Star Wars Legos in one spot, Bionicles Legos in another, toddler-oriented Duplos--which have larger sized pieces than Legos--in still another area, for example.) Another popular attraction at the Downtown Disney Lego Store is it's photo-op spot. Right outside the door of the Lego Store, a Lego Man is sitting posed on a bench with his arm outstretched to hug you for a picture!
Downtown Disney Anaheim -- World of Disney Store
At the World of Disney Store in Downtown Disney Anaheim, you'll find merchandise of interest to all ages.Children, of course, will be fascinated with the hundreds of plush dolls and toys for sale here---in all price ranges, too. Little girls will LOVE with large section devoted to Disney Princess costumes. You'll find everything you need here for your daughter to dress up like Cinderella, Snow White, Belle (from "Beauty and the Beast"), Princess Jasmine (from "Aladdin"), Tinker Belle, Princess Aurora (from "Sleeping Beauty") and Minnie Mouse. You'll find tiaras, purses, jewelry, play shoes and wands to accessorize the beautiful gowns and dresses. Collectors of Disney art will enjoy the special section of framed art prints, figurines, and other Disney fine-art collectibles. You'll even find a section devoted to housewares...including a line of items for the kitchen. Of course, you'll find plenty of items suitable for gift-giving to the folks back home here, as well! Surprisingly, the World of Disney Store is NOT related to the Disney Stores that are popular shopping places for Disney items in malls around the country. Actually, the World of Disney's sister store is the World of Disney Store in Orlando near Walt Disney World. So...don't skip by thinking, "Oh, I'll just find the same items I saw at the mall last week." Because, the stock of merchandise--though still themed with the same lovable Disney characters--is different. (Actually, the popular kid's clothing store, "A Children's Place" administers the mall chain of Disney stores. The Disney folks themselves run the World of Disney stores.) About the Disney DelivEARS shopping service: if you've never used it before, you may wonder exactly what it is. Actually, the Disney DelivEARS merchandising people can hunt through the entire inventory of ALL the shops at Disneyland Park to get you what you want...not just only at the World of Disney store! The employees go "above and beyond" in their service...if they can't find exactly what you want, they'll make note of closely-related items and give you some alternative suggestions! Downtown Disney Anaheim has still ANOTHER great place where the whole family can have fun and be entertained together---The AMC Stadium 12 Theaters!Come enjoy the latest flicks in a cinema house featuring state-of-the-art sound systems. Plus you'll be able to see the screen from EVERY seat in the house---because ALL 12 THEATERS feature "stadium-style" seating. (This means that every row of the theater gets higher and higher towards the ceiling. You can enjoy the program without part of the picture being blocked out by tall heads in front of you!) Another great thing about this AMC Theater is that---despite the fact that it's in the heart of the Disneyland Resort---its ticket prices are no higher than anywhere else in town! You'll get 3 free hours worth of parking at the Downtown Disney Anaheim parking lot, but the theater will validate your parking ticket for 2 more hours worth of time, if you need it.
