The Build A Bear stores are now spinning off a new chain of sister stores...and they're the "Friends 2 B Made" boutiques, where you'll be able to pick out an adorable little munchkin, stuff with fluff, and then dress her up to your heart's content! Here's even better news---the first greater Los Angeles Friends 2 B Made store is getting ready to open! The date you'll need to remember if you want to get there first-thing is NOVEMBER 17, 2006; and the place where you'll find this new Friends to be Made store is at the ONTARIO MILLS MALL at the intersection of Interstate 10 and I-15 in Southern California! Already for some time now, the Friends 2 B Made dolls and accessories have been available in sub-sections within the company's regular BuildABear Workshop stores. Have you seen them? Or, maybe you've even made a "Friends 2 B Made doll" already?In the photo to your left, you see examples of 2 Friends 2B Made dolls. (These were on display at the Fashion Island Build-A-Bear location in Newport Beach, California.) Within the Build A Bear stores, these dolls have their own display island...with the dolls on the top shelves modeling some of the cute outfits which are available, and a moderate choice of accessories on hooks and hangers beneath them. The original Friends 2 B Made dolls are 14 inches tall and rather thin. There have been many more types of dolls available on-line than have been able to fit into the limited space at the bear stores....and many more outfits that you could buy over the internet, too. Once the new Friends 2 B Made stores start appearing, the choices of what you'll be able to select in-person are going to EXPLODE! The selections you may have seen at BuildABear are simply the "tip of the iceburg," as the saying goes! There's a whole 2nd line of Friends 2 B Made dolls available! These are called the "sweetheart" dolls. The Sweetheart Dolls are 17 inches tall, and much wider than the original Friends 2 B Made dolls. (Personally, I like them even better. They sort of remind me of Cabbage Patch dolls.) In addition, at the new Friends 2 B Made stores, you'll be able to make little mascots for your new dolls...little puppies and kitties called "Pets 2 B Loved!" Naturally, the little pets come with their own line of dress-up accessories, collars, bedding, etc, just like the Friends Dolls do. (In a way, these Pets 2 B Loved remind me of the little animals you can get at the "Club Libby Lu" fashion and makeover stores.) Well...mark your calendars! As you can see in this pic of Friends 2 B Made accessories to your left, the Build A Bear's tradition of offering oodles of darling accessories for their stuffed creations is going to continue in their new chain of stores.Whatever type of outfits, and whatever type of accessories that you want, these new Friends 2 B Made stores probably have. Looking for your doll to dress casually? Friends 2 B Made offers clothing and accessories appropriate for a day at the beach... or other outfits just right for picnicking at the park, or skating along the boardwalk---yes, complete with doll skates! Does your doll friend want to attend a slumber party? You'll be able to dress her up in cute-as-pie PJ's...plus slippers and a robe, if you'd like! Will your new doll be heading to a wedding? You can even dress her up as a Flower Girl! The selection of doll shoes in the new stores will be expansive, as well. The simple word "shoes" won't even begin to cover all the choices of footwear that you'll have! (Decisions, decisions!) Naturally, your doll's "look" won't be complete without adding accessories, too. At the new Friends 2 B Made stores, you'll have many more choices than can be found in the Build A Bear stores. You'll have scads of shoes, purses, hair doo dads, undies, Halloween costumes, seasonal outfits (Christmas, Easter, etc), sweaters, coats, jackets, etc.
At the new Friends 2 B Made stores, you can choose from complete pre-packaged outfits. Or, you'll also be able to make up your OWN special outfit from the selection of "separates" that they'll have. For example, you can pick out just the right T shirt...and add the skirt or pants you want to go with it. There will be straight-legged pants, bell bottoms, khakis and jeans. There will be pleated skirts and scooter skirts; ruffled skirts and straight skirts; and even the new "bubble" style skirts which are so in-style this season!
