The always-growing Irvine Spectrum Center is one of Orange County's most beautiful shopping, dining and entertainment malls. Simply meandering through its scenic alleyways admiring the fountains, the striking decor (and, at night, its beautiful lighting) is a joy---even WITHOUT doing anything else at all!The Irvine Spectrum Center opened about a decade ago as a small entertainment hot spot featuring mainly movies and restaurants...and it's never stopped growing ever since! The Edwards 21 Multiplex Cinema and IMAX opened with the original part of the mall as the shopping center's entertainment centerpiece. And, in 2008, the Edwards Theater still remains the mega-popular highlight that it always was. This Edwards Theater was extremely special: it was Orange County's first movie theater to feature stadium seating! (And, in addition, was also one of the first stadium-style theaters in the entire USA!) Meanwhile, over the years shopping options for visitors to the Irvine Spectrum Mall have exploded! You'll now find clothing and accessories for the entire family here...plus decor for the home and garden, as well. On this page, we'll talk about the list of stores, restaurants and entertainment venues that you'll find at the Irvine Spectrum...along with the contact info you'll need to reach each one if you should need to ask a question. Irvine Spectrum Center RestaurantsThe Spectrum's list of restaurants is sure to include some of your favorites!
The Irvine Spectrum has a plethora of restaurants and snack bars for you to enjoy.AMERICAN CUISINE: If you're taste buds are shouting for familiar American food, you'll have several options among the Irvine Spectrum Center restaurants. There's The Cheesecake Factory (phone number 949/788-9998)...which, despite its dessert-y name, is just as much about main dishes as it is about cheesecake. You'll find a sampling of American-style chicken, beef and fish-dish favorites, plus pizza and pasta dishes, as well. Needless to say, desserts are a specialty here! Have some "retro" fun! For 50's "diner" style food, the Spectrum Center has a location of the popular Johnny Rocket's restaurants (phone number 949/753-8144), featuring fat & juicy hamburgers and cheeseburgers, home-style french fries, and super-thick milk shakes and malts. The decor is retro-fun...and just being among the '50's memorabilia at Johnny Rockets turns your meal into an "event." Another retro-themed eatery coming soon to the Irvine Spectrum is Ruby's Diner, opening soon. The Fox Sports Grill has closed its location at the Irvine Spectrum. If this was one of your favorite places, you'll be glad to know that 2 other SoCal locations will be opening up soon. There's a San Diego Fox Sports Grill opening in November, 2008...plus an Anaheim location opening in 2009. PIZZARIAS: For Pizza...but with a California twist...you'll want to try the California Pizza Kitchen, phone number 949/585-9531. If you haven't yet visited a California Pizza Kitchen, you're simply not going to believe all the unusual varieties of pizza you'll find on their menu! However, if you're looking for traditional, Italian-style pizza, the Irvine Spectrum has a casual restaurant you'll enjoy. It's the Luciano Pizzaria (phone number (949) 727-4705.) SEAFOOD: For seafood, you can try the Fish Market Restaurant (phone number 949/727-3474), which features an array of broiled and fried fish and shell fish dishes. At the new Irvine Spectrum restaurant, Izakaya Wasa, sushi and socializing are the specialties of the house...and early reviews are favorable! The Izakaya Wasa phone number is 949/453-9500. ASIAN CUISINE: For Mandarin Chinese food, the Spectrum offers you the P.F. Chang's China Bistro Restaurant (phone number 949/453-1211) which features both updated classics and new creations served in a "casual fine dining" atmosphere. Please see the "Seafood restaurant" listing above for other Asian restaurants specializing in sushi and other seafood. MEXICAN CUISINE: Rounding out the Irvine Spectrum's restaurant choices is Javier's Cantina and Grill (phone number 949/872-2101), serving a variety of your Mexican favorites...plus new twists on Mexican cuisine, as well. For the Baja California-style food that's so popular throughout the Southwestern USA, you'll have a choice or several---either Wahoo's Fish Tacos (phone 949/753-0251) or Rubio's Mexican Grill (949/727-9527), or the Chipotle Mexican Grill (phone 949/753-0554.) All 3 are good choices for enjoying the Baha cuisine. Irvine Spectrum Center Movies & EntertainmentEdwards Stadium 21 Theaters and IMAX
At the Irvine Spectum Center, the Edwards 21 Megaplex Theater (phone number 949/450-4900) is the "star of the show." You'll find your favorite 1st run movies here at Edwards Cinema. At just over 10 years of age, this theater complex is one of the granddaddies of the modern stadium theater buildings. At first, this Edwards location was built with only a few theaters featuring the new stadium-style seating (since 10 years ago, stadium seating was still new--and its popularity was unproved.) As you know, stadium seating "caught on quickly," and then this pioneering theater's auditoriums which did NOT feature stadium tiers became outdated!
Fortunately, the Edwards 21 has been recently renovated. Stadium seating was added in those theaters in which it was lacking, PLUS new state-of-the-art sound systems were placed into all the theaters! In addition to screening "regular" films, the Edwards Irvine 21 Theatre ALSO has an 8-story-tall IMAX screen for showing special IMAX presentations. To find out the Edwards Irvine Theater's list of movies and schedule of showtimes, you may call the phone number listed above. Barnes & Noble at the Irvine Spectrum provides just the right atmosphere for choosing a cozy chair and browsing through the hottest new book titles to see which you'd like to buy. Or, grab some music to enjoy on your home stereo system. --Giant Wheel: As you can see from the photo to your right, the Irvine Spectrum is the home of an attraction called the Giant Wheel, a ferris wheel-style ride that will give you a great view of the Orange Co area around the Spectrum. The gondola cars on the Giant Wheel can hold up to 6 people. And, FYI, one of the gondola cars is wheelchair accessible. --Irvine Spectrum Carousel: Another ride at the Irvine Spectrum is the children's Carousel, featuring 32 fiberglass horses and menagerie animals (made from molds of actual antique carousel animals.)
