Situated only one block west of Interstate 5 (at the very LAST exit in the USA before you reach Mexico,) you'll find the Las Americas mall to be very easy-to-find. A large, free parking lot is available here...which you'll find very handy, since free parking spots at the border fill up early in the day. (Note: Be sure to re-park your car elsewhere if you decide to walk over to Tijuana; the Las Americas parking lot is for its own customers, only. Also, don't forget that these days US citizens need passports to return to the USA from Mexico.)

You may be one of the many tourists who are disappointed by the "bargains" in Mexico, which tend to be souvenir-type items rather than merchandise you'll actually use every day. If so, don't forget to stop in at the Las Americas outlet mall after your TJ visit so that you can bargain-hunt for clothing and accessories that will become an important part of your daily wardrobe!

The Las Americas outlet mall doesn't have too many restaurants...but they're good ones.

A great restaurant that features delicious home-style Mexican cuisine is the Achiote Restaurant, phone number (619) 690-1494. You'll find Achiote in its own separate building in the mall's parking lot. The Achiote Restaurant address is 4419 Camino de la Plaza, San Ysidro, CA 92173. (Note: You may see the Achiote Mexican Restaurant in the photo to your left.)

Another table-service restaurant is the International House of Pancakes (IHOP), phone number (619) 690-9411. IHOP serves meals of all kinds, not just the breakfast specialties for which it is famous. The IHOP restaurant may also be found in its own building; the IHOP address is 4291 Camino de la Plaza.

Also at the Las Americas outlet mall you'll find a McDonald's restaurant (with an indoor playground), a Starbucks, a Wetzel's Pretzels location, and several fast-food restaurants in the Las Americas' food court.

The regular store hours at Las Americas Outlet Mall are as follows: The stores open Mondays through Saturdays at 10 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. The Las Americas Mall opening time on Sunday is 10 a.m. and closing time is at 7 p.m. Extended hours may be available during holiday periods.
