If you've recently visited the outlet mall formerly known as "The Shops at Las Americas," then you've discovered one thing---they've got a new name!
The Shops at Las Americas have now become the LAS AMERICAS PREMIUM OUTLETS!
This terrific outlet mall at the Tijuana border has the same look it always had...the same layout...and even the same stores! In fact, if you didn't notice the signs, you may not have noticed a difference.
Nevertheless, this popular outlet mall in southern San Diego County has joined one of the most prestigious factory outlet groups in the USA; we can certainly expect Las Americas to keep thriving and bringing us the best brands of factory outlet merchandise that can be found!
The Shops at Las Americas used to have a slogan for this outlet mall---"Fashion without Borders." That's almost the truth! What you're looking at in the photo to your right is the US/Mexican border from the back parking lot of the Las Americas outlet mall. The cars you see are indeed right here in the USA; but that hill full of houses...that's Tijuana, Mexico!
Shopping at the Las Americas Outlets is very much bi-national. At the same time we Gringos are streaming across the border searching for bargains in Tijuana, the many Mexican citizens with passports are streaming across in the other direction seeking bargains in the USA!

Shops at Las Americas: Dining and Entertainment
The Shops at Las Americas offer fine bargain-hunting fun, but there isn't really any other type of entertainment here. You won't find cinemas, or even a video game arcade. Occasionally, the mall offers seasonal family activities on a short-term basis (particularly during the Christmas holiday season.)The Las Americas outlet mall doesn't have many restaurants, but there are enough to make sure you won't go hungry while you're shopping.
A new restaurant that features delicious home-style Mexican cuisine is the Achiote Restaurant, phone number (619) 690-1433. You'll find Achiote in its own separate building in the mall's parking lot. The Achiote Restaurant address is 4419 Camino de la Plaza, San Ysidro, CA 92173. (Note: You may see the Achiote Mexican Restaurant in the photo to your left.)
Another table-service restaurant is the International House of Pancakes (IHOP), phone number (619) 690-9411. IHOP serves meals of all kinds, not just the breakfast specialties for which it is famous. The IHOP restaurant may also be found in its own building; the IHOP address is 4291 Camino de la Plaza.
Also at the Las Americas outlet mall you'll find a McDonald's restaurant (with an indoor playground), a Starbucks, a Wetzel's Pretzels location, and several fast-food restaurants in the Las Americas' food court.

The Shops at Las Americas phone number is 619-934-8400.The regular store hours at Las Americas Outlet Mall are as follows: The stores open Mondays through Saturdays at 10 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. The Las Americas Mall opening time on Sunday is 10 a.m. and closing time is at 7 p.m. Extended hours may be available during holiday periods.

Directions to The Shops at Las Americas---The Las Americas outlet mall is located just off Interstate 5 in San Ysidro (greater San Diego,) California. The mall sits directly west of I-5 on Camino de la Plaza. The Camino de la Plaza exit is the VERY LAST EXIT in the United States before the highway crosses the international border into Mexico! Be careful...don't end up in Tijuana, unless that's where you really want to be! (Just kidding! The Camino de la Plaza is well-marked, and travelers are adequately reminded that they'll leave the USA unless they exit the freeway!)
