Incredible Lego Miniland Cities, Part 2In the slide show above, you're viewing photos of Lego Washington DC, Lego Daytona (Florida) and Lego New York City! In the pictures of the Lego White House, US Capitol Building and other monuments, you can note the detail with which these Lego buildings are constructed. At the Lego Datona Raceway, you can watch the race cars zooming down the track...or getting repaired by the pit crew. And as you can tell by the pictures of the Lego Guggenheim Museum, Manhattan skyscrapers, and Bronx Zoo, Lego's miniland cities are nothing short of a true work of art! On this page, you'll discover further details about the Legoland California theme park's popular "Miniland" section, which abounds with replicas of famous landmarks...all made completely of Lego building bricks! Lego Miniland Cities -- Lego Washington DC!
On your left, you see the United States Capitol Building---made entirely of Lego bricks! Needless to say, all of the re-created buildings here at Legoland's Miniland were completely and thoroughly researched before their design was ever begun...in order to bring you completely accurate replicas! In front of the Lego Capitol, you'll see a miniature marching band playing (see the photo on your right.) Little Lego passersby have stopped to listen and enjoy the music! Though I haven't shown it in a photo, you'll see a made-of-Legos miniature inaugural parade driving down the streets of Lego Washington DC! During the Clinton administration, the parade included mini Lego Bill and Hillary Clinton...and nowadays, the parade features mini President and Laura Bush! (Legoland has every intention of keeping up the change-the-presidents-with-the-times tradition, too!) In the photo to your below and to your left, that's---of course---the Lego White House, as detailed and beautiful as the original, only smaller. This Lego Washington DC exhibit should be seen twice---once during the broad daylight for admiring all of its little details, and then again at twilight, when Legoland California completely lights the set...giving it a glowing, romantic look. Of all the city scenes at Legoland, though, I think that the evening lighting of our nation's monuments in the Washington DC set is the most beautiful of all! Lego Miniland Cities --Lego New York City!
Here's a replica of still another national monument dear to the hearts of Americans---the Statue of Liberty! (As always, you'll notice great detail included by Legoland's master builders!)Although you can see most of the Lego New York City exhibit on foot, the best view of the Statue of Liberty replica (which is out in the Legoland Lake) is on the Legoland California's "Coast Cruise" ride. (I'll be discussing that great-for-all-ages boat trip on the next page of this section.) In the photo to your left, you see the Lego skyscrapers of Miniland New York---featuring the world-famous Empire State Building. Recently, this Lego Mini City was completely refurbished AND Legoland added a brand new attraction---the Freedom Towers (replicas of the buildings being build on the site of the never-to-be-forgotten twin towers of the World Trade Center.) No...the REAL Freedom Tower site isn't finished yet! Legoland California wanted to be ahead of the game in offering the public a view of the inspirational new plaza. For example, the Guggenheim Museum is here in it's mini-version...that architectural spectacle full of delights for city visitors. You'll find Rockefeller Center and Central Park...and more!...all very thoroughly detailed. You'll feel like you were really there! Lego Central Florida!Lego recreation of Florida's Space Center
Lego Space Center has been moved from the park! Florida's Space Center was a popular Miniland exhibit at Legoland California until recently. It has now been moved from the park. Thankfully, the Lego Space Center was not destroyed. It has been moved to the original Legoland in Denmark, where a part of THEIR Miniland is called "Lego USA."These pictures of the Lego Space Center will remain on this page for those who remember it fondly to reminisce. To your left, you see the picture of a Lego space shuttle getting ready to launch.
Then, in the photo at your right, you'll see the Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Complex---the Lego miniature version. The Kennedy Space Center's visitor center in Brevard County, Florida interprets the history of space exploration from the past to the present day. Using giant-screen movies, interactive exhibits, and even children's play areas to tell visitors this story, spending time at the Kennedy Space Center is an important part of any visitor's trip to central Florida. You can see a block-shaped, two-toned building in the picture to your right. That's the Lego version of the Space Center's "V.A.B." (a spacecraft assembly building, which also holds offices, as well.) You'll also notice Lego Miniland's version of the Rocket Garden (where real rockets which have returned from their trips to outer space are displayed.) Lego Daytona Speedway
Who ever thinks of the race-driving scene as being "cute?" But what other word could I possibly use to describe these adorable miniature pit crew members, going about their business at the Lego Daytona International Speedway? Unlike the Kennedy Space Center scenes, the Lego Daytona Speedway is still present at Legoland California.Legoland California has a large area devoted to this Florida monument. You'll see Lego race cars, race tracks, spectators in stadium seating...even an RV park full of adorable miniature campers, trailers, 5th wheelers and Class A's!
Here on your right, is a photo of a miniature race in progress at the Lego Daytona International Speedway. Who will win? Impossible to say! The Lego Miniland Cities and Regions exhibits are so extensive that it's impossible to describe them on just one page! You may use the big yellow button below to view still MORE fabulous Lego re-creations of famous landmarks. By now, though, you surely know one thing: Legoland's Miniland is one spot you WON'T want to miss on your visit to Legoland San Diego!
