How to cash in on money-saving

Multi-Park discounts!

In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of fun Southern California attractions included in the Go Card discount programs. Go Card savings plans can be purchased for either Los Angeles/Orange County or for San Diego...and some attractions belong to BOTH plans! You'll discover the exciting details of the Go Card savings plan, the CityPass discount coupons and other ways to save when you visit more than one theme park on your Southern California vacation.

Southern California attraction discount tickets

With a multi-attraction discount plan, you NEVER pay full price for ANY attraction you visit!

Photo: Disneyland Matterhorn as seen through springtime flowers Tourists to Southern California almost ALWAYS visit more than one attraction while on vacation. The attraction-owners know this, and they want you to include THEIR attraction on your itinerary. Their biggest problem is that Southern California is FULL of attractions! Whether visitors are looking to enjoy a theme park, a museum, a family fun center, a boat tour, a zoo...or whatever their interest might be...there's ALWAYS more than one option available.

How can attraction-owners lure you to visit them? How to they put THEIR attraction on YOUR "must-see" list? One way is for them to join a multiple attraction discount program! By offering you a special deal, you might come to their attraction more readily...even if that attraction was only on your "maybe" list. You might even purchase souvenirs and food during your visit...earning them even more revenue! And you might have such a good time that you encourage your friends to see the attraction on their next California vacation.

Is it easy to find a multi-attraction discount plan which includes the attractions that YOU want to see? Yes, it is!

Every Southern California theme park and nearly every major Los Angeles and San Diego attraction is part of a multi-park discount deal. This works out to be a terrific deal for YOU! Who DOESN'T want to have more fun while spending less money!

Southern California discount ticket programs discussed on this page are:

* Go Cards--Los Angeles
* Go Cards--San Diego
* Southern California CityPass

Note: if you're only going to ONE theme park or attraction on your vacation, please visit our Theme Park Discounts and Coupons page for info about discounts available at individual attractions. THIS page will be about multi-attraction discounts ONLY.

Southern California "Go Card" Attraction Discounts

Los Angeles Go Card saves money at theme parks, museums & more!

Picture of a Dragon made entirely of Legos! This dragon decorates the Knight's Tournament ride at Legoland, California You won't even BELIEVE how many different Southern California attractions are members of the Los Angeles Go Card discount ticket program.

The list of discount attractions is stunning. For LESS money (compared to buying full-price admission tickets,) you can enjoy MORE of the attractions you came to California to see!

How does the Go Card discount plan work? This is a VERY flexible plan. Ten different people could get 10 Los Angeles Go Cards...and each one might use his or her card in a different way!

1.) Before leaving home, purchase your Go Card on-line. (Go Cards are not available at the attractions themselves...which is the biggest downfall of the Go Card discount program. You MUST "think ahead.") Choose from a 1, 2, 3, 5, or 7 day Go Card. You may visit as many attractions on the list as you can "fit" into the time period you selected. You will have 14 days in which you can complete your touring. (For example, if you bought a 5 day Go Card discount pass, you will need to get your 5 days of discount touring done within 14 days of the first time you use the card. If you're tired or the weather turns bad, simply skip a day or two of touring---no problem!)

2.) Have your Go Card mailed to your home...or, if there's not enough time before your trip, you may pick it up at the Go Card redemption center in Los Angeles.

3.) Present the Go Card instead of money at any member attraction on the list.

Go Card Discounts & Deals: We've noticed that Go Cards go on sale about 2 weeks out of every 2 month period. Even without catching a sale, Go Cards are a good deal. But, if you buy during a sale period, they're a GREAT deal! If the Go Card you want isn't on sale today, check back again soon & maybe it will be! If you love sight-seeing, then you know how hard it is to find cheap tickets. But with a Go Card in your hand, it's finally possible to visit the attractions you want AND stay within your budget! Our family loves Go Cards; whenever we need to show guests around Southern California, we put in an order. We wouldn't be able to take them nearly so many places without Los Angeles Go Cards!

How to maximize your Go Card savings!

Here are some tips for reaping the greatest savings from your Los Angeles Go Card discount tickets:

  • See the most expensive attractions first. You may not realize how much fun you'll have when you carry a Go Card in your pocket. You'll want to keep touring and touring...but you can't. If you've only purchased a 3-day Go Card, then you're back to paying cash at whatever attractions you visit on Day 4 of your vacation. And, since you can't buy a new Go Card (they must be purchased ahead of time via their website,) it only makes sense to head to the most expensive places on your list FIRST.

  • Start your daily touring when the attractions first open, typically around 9 or 10 am. That way, you'll be able to fit in more sight-seeing in one day...and save more money. Begin the day with a hearty breakfast so that a fast-food lunch will satisfy your hunger. Save your big, leisurely meal for the end of the day...after many of the attractions have already closed. Also, the Los Angeles Go Card has a daily time limit: you must enter member attractions by 5:30 pm for your discount to be valid. So, see attractions that close early in the morning. Enter attractions that stay open in the evenings before 5:30 pm...and then you can stay inside all evening long until closing time, if you like!

  • As much as possible, group the attractions that you see by geographical area. If you can group MOST of your visits by location, you'll save lots of time driving around on LA's busy streets and freeways. You'll be able to tour more attractions in one day's time. And, the more you see, the more you save!

    San Diego Go Card Discounts

    Discount tickets to San Diego's most popular attractions!

    Sea World San Diego is now a member of the San Diego Go Card program! If you've held off buying a San Diego Go Card because the city's biggest attraction---Sea World---wasn't part of the program, then you'll love hearing this news! Now ALL of San Diego's best tourist attractions are available in this ONE discount plan!

    Just like it's sister-card, the San Diego Go Card discount program is very flexible. YOU decide the length of time you want to stay in the Go Card discount program...from between 1 to 7 days. And YOU pick the attractions you want to see, while ignoring the ones which don't interest you. You never have to pay for an inflexible discount ticket book in which some of the offers don't interest you. There's no wasted money; you only spend your time exactly where you wish to spend it.

    San Diego's Go Card has (mostly) different attractions on its list than the Los Angeles GoCard. Would you like to spend a day touring Tijuana, Mexico? Grey Line is waiting to take you...all as a part of the Go Card discount program! Or, head out on a Gaslamp Quarter walking tour? Or a San Diego Harbor boat cruise? Or visit the museums of Balboa Park...or the San Diego Zoo...or the San Diego Wild Animal park? This program includes discount tickets to most everything you'd want to see in greater San Diego!

    Theme parks and family fun: Sea World San Diego, Legoland California theme park; Knott's Berry Farm, Knott's Soak City water park (San Diego location only; seasonal); Wild Rivers water park (seasonal); Belmont Park unlimited ride wristband; Wave House FlowRider session at Belmont Park; Ice Town La Jolla (free ice skating and rentals); Wild River Waterpark (Irvine); Boomers San Diego family fun center; Reuben H. Fleet Science Center and IMAX movie; Miramar Speed Circuit Race Ride (discount not available on weekends); La Jolla Bike and Kayak center (free rental)

    Zoos & Aquarium attractions: San Diego Zoo (you get the "Best Value" Ticket, which includes unlimited use of guided bus Tour, express Bus & Skyfari aerial tram); San Diego Wild Animal Park; Birch Aquarium at Scripps; Chula Vista Nature Center;

    Other included attractions: There are many other museums and tours included with the Go San Diego Card. Please see their website for the complete list.

    Note: The San Diego Go Card is another one of this website's sponsors. If you wish to purchase this card, doing so via the ads on our site will help keep our website growing. Thank you in advance for your support. As we mentioned above, Go Cards have been a budget-stretcher for our family when we take my visitors out & about to see Southern California. We hope you will like using them as much as we have.

    San Diego Go Card discounts: About every 2 months, the San Diego Go Card comes on sale. You'll always get a good deal buying a Go Card even at full price; but with a sale price, you'll get unbeatable deals on the attractions you want to see! If the San Diego Go Cards aren't on sale today, come back soon...and maybe they WILL be!

    City Pass Discount Tickets

    The Southern California CityPass

    GIF animation of falling money The City Pass Discount Programs...which are available for a number of different cities throughout the USA...are good multi-attraction discount coupons which save tourists money. Southern California is lucky because it has not only one City Pass program, but TWO! These are the Southern California CityPass and the Hollywood CityPass. The Hollywood City Pass, (which focuses on attractions in Hollywood, California only) will be discussed in the next section of this page. The Southern California CityPass is an even more lively discount program which focuses its energies on theme parks and zoos...ideal for family travelers!

    The Southern California CityPass program gives you the following fun---

  • 3 days at the Disneyland Resort, which includes both Disneyland Park AND Disney's California Adventure! You'll receive a 3-day Park Hopper Bonus ticket...which means that you can "hop" back and forth between the 2 Disney Resort theme parks on the same day (you're not confined to just "one park per day," in other words.) PLUS, you'll get a "bonus" ticket for one day's "early admission to the park!"

  • 1 day's general admission to the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park!

  • 1 day's general admission to the SeaWorld San Diego adventure park!

    In total, you'll enjoy 5 days of fun...and pay less than you would if you purchased your attraction tickets separately!

    Where do you purchase the Southern California CityPass discount tickets? Either at the CityPass website (see the link below on this page) or at any one of the attractions where you'll be using the coupons (Disneyland Park in Anaheim, Universal Studios, SeaWorld San Diego, and the San Diego Zoo.)

    * Ticket Prices for the 2014 Southern California CityPass are---
    $331.00 for adults
    $289.00 for children 3--9.
    CityPass discount coupon prices are the same no matter where you buy them...whether at the theme park or on-line. And, they don't start their 2-week "expiration countdown" until you use the first ticket in the book. Therefore, you can be flexible. Buy your CityPass coupon books early to help stretch your trip's expenses across different paychecks. Or, wait until the last minute and purchase them when you get to the theme parks.

    *Restrictions on the Southern California CityPass---

    1) The 2014 Southern California CityPass plan is available through the end of the year, and your first day of use must be Dec 31, 2014 at the latest (or else you will need to purchase a 2015 CityPass at slightly higher prices.)

    2) You only have 14 days from the date you first use one of the tickets until ALL the tickets in your book expire. While tourists and visitors to Southern California won't mind the 2-week time frame in which you can use the coupons, locals may feel a little rushed by having to use up the 5 discount tickets so quickly.

    3) No blackout dates apply! These discounts are good any day of the year at the Southern California theme parks participating in the City Pass discount program.

    Are CityPass discount coupons difficult to use? Not at all! We have used this discount program in the past for our own theme park admissions, and had no problems with the plan whatsoever. This is a very important theme park discount program...because it's the ONLY plan in SoCal which includes Disneyland Park...the most popular visitor attraction in the state of California! If you'd like further information on the Southern California CityPass program, you here's a link to the City Pass website, where you can learn more about them.
