Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion Pics, part 2See inside the holiday mansion, and make your plans to visit it soon!
2009 Holiday Haunted Mansion is now open! This year's date for viewing the Holiday version of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion ride began on Friday, September 25, 2009! The Haunted Mansion was closed most of September while the ride underwent its popular seasonal makeover. The Haunted Mansion will close once again for most of January, 2009 to be turned back into its "regular" version. Be sure to enjoy it while you can! End of noticeAs you stroll along the walkway up to Disneyland's Holiday Haunted Mansion ride, you'll find all sorts of evidence that Jack Skellington has visited here! As you'll recall from the Nightmare Before Christmas movie, Jack Skellington was riding high in public opinion within his native Halloween Town. The spectacular Halloween celebrations that he planned every year were simply "the best," and townspeople were always eager with anticipation to see how he'd out-do himself at Halloween time the next year.
In "Part 1" of the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion photos, we took a look at decorations on the exterior of the attraction. If you missed that page, you may use the next link to view the Holiday Haunted Mansion pictures, pt 1 page of this website. And, in Part 2, you'll see pictures from the inside of the Nightmare Version of the Holiday Haunted Mansion ride. You'll discover that Jack Skellington has been at it again...distorting and mangling Christmas holiday traditions, because he doesn't really understand them! Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion photosJack Skellington's bungled attempts at re-creating Christmas...
The Nightmare Before Christmas version of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion ride doesn't try to re-create Tim Burton's movie step by step. Rather, the attraction uses Nightmare Before Christmas characters and themes to create an atmosphere and mood similar to what you experienced during the film.
In the picture to your left, you see one of several Christmas angels used as a decoration. But only Jack Skellington would have thought of using an evilly grinning Jack O Lantern for the angel's head! Poor Jack! He can come close to re-creating Christmas...but he never gets it quite right!
In the picture to your right, you see Jack O Lanterns used to trim a Christmas tree in place of ornaments. Only Jack Skellington could make a mistake like that!
Jack Skellington DID grasp the concept of Christmastime gift-giving. He just didn't realize he was doing the wrong thing by using skulls and skull-printed ribbon to decorate holiday packages, like you'll see throughout the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the Haunted Mansion. And, how could Jack have thought that little kids would like the bizarre and dangerous Christmas gifts that he gave them, such as the snake you see in the picture to your left?
Joanne P, a reader from Menifee, California, captured some good shots inside the Nightmare Before Christmas-themed Haunted Mansion. The next two photos will be hers. She got a great, crystal-clear close up photo of the scary Halloween pumpkins decorating the Holiday Mansion's Christmas tree...as you can see to your right. Poor Jack Skellington! He got the idea right...wreaths ARE for Christmas. He just didn't study the holiday long enough to know that people don't make their Christmas wreaths with scary eyes and sharp, threatening teeth! Nightmare Before Christmas Characters
If you've seen Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas movie, you'll recognize familiar characters from the film in the Holiday Haunted Mansion. In the picture to your left, you can see the grinning face of Jack Skellington wearing a "Sandy Claws" cap! (Remember from the movie? Poor Jack had scary thoughts on his brain...and, mistook the innocent name of Santa Claus for the bizarre and frightening moniker of Sandy Claws!) You can see this picture of Jack Skellington on the ceiling of the Haunted Mansion's "Stretch Room"...which is actually the elevator which leads you from the mansion's entryway into the ride-boarding area.
The Oogie Boogie Man character is seen clearly near the end of the Holiday Haunted Mansion ride...
...where he's spinning a "wheel of fortune" featuring dangerous or broken Christmas gifts. Which of these "wonderful" gifts do you think that YOU would want to receive? The candy cane with the head of a snake? The partially-eaten gingerbread cookie? Or perhaps the sticks of dynamite, festively colored with red, white & green stripes?
You just may indeed receive one of these "wonderful" Christmas presents! Look carefully after passing Oogie's Holiday wheel. You'll pass a series of mirrors (which you see in the photo to your right.) When you look at yourself in the mirror, you just may find that one of these toys or goodies has found its way into the car with you. Look closely in the last mirror in this picture---the one closest to the right edge. You'll see a couple of gingerbread men...just waiting to join some unsuspecting guest in their "Doombuggy!" Nightmare Before Christmas Merchandise
Speaking of gifts, you don't have to wait until it's time to open Holiday presents to give yourself a Jack Skellington or Nightmare Before Christmas-themed gift.
All year long, you can find the image of Jack Skellington, Sally and other Nightmare Before Christmas characters emblazoned on purses, wallets, watches, T Shirts and other items. In Disneyland Park's New Orleans Square section, there's a year-round Nightmare Before Christmas shop! In the picture to your left, you see some Jack Skellington top hats...kind of a "gag" gift.
But, you'll also find more useful and practical Nightmare Before Christmas-themed merchandise you might prefer in this Disneyland Shop. Many people enjoy Jack Skellington T Shirts or sweatshirts, such as you can see in the display to your right. In addition to the year-round shop, Disneyland Park also has a merchandise cart outside the gates of the Holiday Haunted Mansion where you can buy souvenirs of your experience.
Fun Jack Skellington gifts & other stuff You can buy cute Jack Skellington clothing, souvenirs and gifts at Disneyland Park every day of the year. But, what happens if you're not heading to Disneyland any time soon?
Jack Skellington and his friends are quite popular...and there are many fun items you can find which bear their images. You'll probably see some things below that you've never even dreamed of finding! Check out cool Disney Christmas pictures!
