Northridge Fashion Center Mall Overview
The Northridge Fashion Center Mall in Northridge, California is a large, full-service mall featuring 170+ stores, restaurants and services. You're sure to find what you came for when you shop at this northern San Fernando Valley shopping center.The Northridge Mall has literally seen some big shake-ups in its lifetime: in January, 1994, the mall sustained some heavy damage in the 6.8-rated Northridge earthquake. (The mall was near the earthquake's epicenter.) After being closed for over a year, the newly-renovated mall re-opened to an eagerly-awaiting public.
More recently, the mall renovated due to an even worse problem than an earthquake: old age, a disease which Angelenos just won't tolerate. The 1971-vintage mall revamped and added 200,000 sf of additional space and added an open-air component to the mall. As you can tell from the photos in the slide show above, the outdoor section of the mall is beautifully landscaped and decorated. It makes a wonderful place to stroll and relax on one of SoCal's many spring-like days.
Meanwhile, the largest portion of the Northridge Fashion Center remains an indoor, climate-controlled mall in which it's a pleasure to shop and escape the heat during sweltering San Fernando Valley summers. An attractive skylight lets in the sunshine and blue skies, while revamped store fronts give the mall a trendy look and atmosphere.
