Terrific SeaWorld Shows!

Photo: The Rockin' Ski Party, one of the SeaWorld shows, begins with a comedy routine On the previous page of this section, we talked about the new Shamu Show, "Believe!" Of course you'll want to see ALL of the terrific SeaWorld Shows when you visit SeaWorld San Antonio. If you're headed to SeaWorld San Diego on your Interstate 10 road trip, so much the better! The shows at the 2 SeaWorld parks are different, by and large. You can take in ALL of them...and compare notes with your family members about "what's the same and what's different" between the shows at both SeaWorld parks!

SeaWorld Shows -- Clyde and Seamore's Sea Lion Shows

Photo: Clyde and Seamore sit at a diner waiting to be served at the humorous Clyde and Seamore Sea Lion Show at SeaWorld All of the 3 SeaWorld parks---San Diego, San Antonio and Orlando---present sea lion shows featuring that lovable pair, Clyde and Seamore. Fortunately, if you'll be traveling to several of the SeaWorld parks this summer, the Clyde and Seamore shows at the 3 different SeaWorld locations are all unique. You can enjoy them all!

At SeaWorld San Antonio, you'll be able to see Clyde & Seamore in "The Cannery Row Caper." This is a mystery played on a set themed to a waterfront fish cannery...but, as SeaWorld shows always are...the show's plot is merely a device to show off the cute & clever antics of Clyde and Seamore!

In the picture to your left, you see Clyde and Seamore sitting on diner stools...waiting their turn to be served!

Photo: Sea lion performs a hand stand at the Clyde and Seamore Sea Lion Show, Sea World park In the photo to your right, you see Clyde (or is it Seamore?) performing a handstand during "The Cannery Row Caper" show.

Clyde and Seamore are popular fellows; get to the Sea Lion Stadium early for the best seats. There is a snack bar at the back of the stadium where you can buy drinks and snacks to eat during the show.

During the busy summer months, Clyde and Seamore perform a completely DIFFERENT show during the evening hours! (This year in 2006, the "Summer Nights Shows" as they're called, ran from June 3, 2006 through August 13, 2006. Although the 2007 summer evening show schedule hasn't been announced yet, you can expect the dates to be fairly similar to last year's dates.) Wow---you'll REALLY getting a big "bang for your buck" by having DOUBLE the normal amount of shows to see during the summertime!

During the evening performances last year, Clyde and Seamore performed in "Sea Lions Tonite!," the same popular show which ran during the 2005 Summer Nights show season. Special nighttime lighting adds an extra aura to this whimsical sea lion show.

SeaWorld Shows -- Sea World's Dolphin Shows

Photo: Beautiful White Whale and Dolphin Stadium at SeaWorld San Antonio Naturally, just like SeaWorld San Diego, you'll find that Sea World in San Antonio has a dolphin show. The "Viva" dolphin show in San Antonio takes place in colorfully-decorated White Whale and Dolphin Stadium. As you can see in the picture to your left, the stadium is adorned with festive pastel banners. When the show is in session, there are water screens and fountains spraying. Humans make up part of the act, as well...featuring high divers and synchronized swimmers performing along with SeaWorld's bottle-nose dolphins and beluga whales.

Photo: SeaWorld dolphin trainer wears one of the new costumes at the Viva dolphin show; SeaWorld San Antonio If you noticed in the photos of the "Believe" whale show at Shamu Stadium, the wetsuits worn by the SeaWorld trainers were "killer whale" colored. That is, they were black and white, with the colors arranged in patterns reminiscent of spots on their killer whale friends.

In the photo to your right, you can see one of the 2 types of wetsuits that trainers wear in the Viva dolphin production. These are meant to be color-coordinated with the stadium itself.

Animal lovers will WANT to see "Viva!" As usual, the animals are simply a delight, and the humans perform equally well.

If you head to SeaWorld in San Diego this summer, you won't want to miss their dolphin show (called the "Dolphin Discovery" Show) either. If you haven't read about the San Diego Sea World's dolphin show yet, you may use the following link to go to the "Dolphin Discovery" page of the SeaWorld San Diego section of this website.

SeaWorld Shows -- "Rockin' Ski Party Water" Ski Show

Photo: Hapless fellow floods his boat in the comedy pre-show to the Rockin' Ski Party at SeaWorld San Antonio If you like water skiing shows, be sure to see the cute "Rockin' Ski Party" show at WaterSki Stadium. After all, if you don't catch the show at SeaWorld San Antonio, you can't make up for it when you get to California. SeaWorld San Diego doesn't have a water ski show!

WaterSki Stadium is a huge venue that sits at the edge of a lagoon in the middle of Sea World San Antonio. (You can see a photo of the empty stadium in the picture below.)

As guests arrive, take their seats and wait for the show to begin, they're treated to a comdey pre-show. As you can see from the photo to your left, this comedy skit centers around a guy and his little boat. First he has trouble getting it into the water, then he has trouble getting into the darned thing, and finally, the hapless fellow starts to sink as the boat fills up with water!

Photo: Actors in the The Rockin' Ski Party show at SeaWorld San Antonio When the "real" show begins, you'll see a beach-party themed production. Part of the story line centers around a girl trying to make a choice..."which of her many suitors to pick?" In the image to your right, you can see the young woman with several of the male contenders for her affection.

Of course, you'll see boats, skiers, and water stunts. Meanwhile, you'll listen to a rousing score of "beach music." Guests leave the stadium with a smile on their faces, and tapping their toes.

SeaWorld Shows -- R.L. Stine's Haunted Lighthouse 4D and other shows

Closeup photo of a water skier during the Rockin' Ski Party SeaWorld Show I don't have any photos of the R.L. Stine's 4D Haunted Lighthouse attraction! So, I'll post this extra photo of the Rockin' Ski Party show instead! In the photo to your left, you see a close-up shot of a water skier performing during the show. (Thanks to the magic of zoom lenses, that is!)

Both SeaWorld locations--San Diego AND San Antonio have the same "scary" show, R. L. Stine's 4D Haunted Lighthouse. The 4D Haunted Lighthouse show is a semi-scary 3D movie. It's about a modern-day brother and sister who meet a dearly departed brother and sister from days gone by. Like any 3D movie, images seem to "pop out" of the screen at you.

So, what's the "4D" mean? That designation signifies that there are extra special effects waiting to surprise you. The capablilty for these effects was built right into the theater itself. Maybe your seat will make a jolt. Or, just maybe, you'll get a drip or two of water on your head!

R.L. Stine, by the way, is the author of "eerie" books for kids and teens...including the wildly popular "Goosebumps" series of thrillers. Maybe you've never heard of him...but, I'll bet your school-age children have!

SeaWorld Shows -- "Summer Nights" show specials in San Antonio

Photo of motor boat pulling water skiers during the Rockin' Ski Party show at SeaWorld San Antonio As I mentioned earlier on this page, once the busy summer vacation season rolls around, there will be a special schedule of evening shows added to the list of "must-see events" at Sea World San Antonio.

We've already talked about the evening Clyde & Seamore show. But, it's certainly not the ONLY evening show at SeaWorld! The white whales and dolphins perform a separate "Summer Nights" show plays, as well. You'll see them star in "Viva" by day, and a then in a different show by night.

Even the RL Stine show takes a break for the evenings during the summer. At the movie theater in SeaWorld, once the "Summer Nights" schedule starts in June, you'll continue to see the RL Stine movie by day...and a different film by night. Last year in 2006, the evening show was "Pirates 4D." Will it be the same this summer (2007?) Not sure yet...the schedule hasn't been announced! But, "Pirates 4D" proved to be very popular with the guests last year, so there's a good chance that it will play again this summer.
