Unique Specialty Shopping in Fantasyland at Disneyland CaliforniaPhoto notes: In the slide show above, you've been viewing pictures of Disney Princess clothing, and other fun Fantasyland activities & shopping. You've also seen photos of Fantasyland's major restaurant, The Village House, as well. On the rest of this page, you'll discover details about the delightful specialty merchandise you'll encounter in Fantasyland.
Disney Princess Dresses galore in Fantasyland!
If you have a young daughter, the Once Upon a Time Disney Princess Shoppe in Fantasyland (near the Sleeping Beauty Castle) will be your most important stop. There, you can find costumes and accessories (beautiful dresses, nightgowns, tiaras, wands & scepters, play shoes, purses and jewelry) for all the Disney Princess characters (Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel the Little Mermaid, Belle from "Beauty and the Beast," Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty," Tinker Bell from "Peter Pan," Jasmine from "Disney's Aladdin," and sometimes Mulan), and Minnie Mouse, as well. Disney Princess Fantasy Faire shop: Another great place for finding Disney Princess costumes and accessories is at the Fantasy Faire attraction. You can find Princess gowns & accessories, plus princess-themed T shirts & other apparel. In addition, you'll find a salon...where young princess wannabes can get a makeover! Kids may choose from several Princess hairstyles, or choose makeup (or face painting) instead. The Princess Fantasy Faire attraction is directly across from the Toontown Station of the Disneyland Railroad. Are you holding off getting the Disney Princess costumes your child wants because you don't want to "lug it around" for the rest of the day? You may wish to take advantage of the theme park's package-holding service. There are no facilities within Fantasyland itself; but if you head over to the Star Traders store in Tomorrowland, they'll gladly keep your packages for you the rest of the day. (The next-closest storage location to the Fantasyland shops is the Pioneer Mercantile store in Frontierland.)
Money-saving Tip: If you're short on cash like many vacationers, you can try doing what I did: to save money, I bought my granddaughter only the Minnie Mouse DRESS and skipped getting the other accessories. The Minnie Mouse (or Princess) dress is what shows up best in photos any way, so you can capture the same memories without having to spring extra for the shoes, purse, tiara, etc, if you don't have the funds for them.
Shopping in Fantasyland at Disneyland California: Mad Hatter Hat Shop
If you're shopping in Fantasyland at Disneyland California, another place you'll soon come to know is the "Mad Hatter Hat Shop." Of COURSE you'll want to buy your child those famous "Mouse Ears," and this is a great place to find them. In fact, no matter WHERE in the park that you DO buy your mouse ears, THIS is the place they'll send you to get your child's name embroidered (for free!) on the back of the hat.Be sure to take the time to get your child's name embroidered! You'll be so glad later that you did! By having your child's name embroidered on the back of the mouse ears, you'll be turn a simple souvenir into a treasured heirloom! "Mouse Ears" are just the beginning of what you'll find at the Mad Hatter shop. There are zany, crazy hats of all kinds. There are pirate hats, Stitch hats, Cheshire Cat hats, glittery or feathery headpieces...and even Mad Hatter-style hats! Wearing a crazy hat while touring Disneyland Park isn't just for kids, either~ Many adults, too, like to get in on the fun of wearing an outrageous, over-the-top hat throughout throughout their day at the park. The Mad Hatter's Hat Shop is just the place for finding what you need!
Shopping in Fantasyland at Disneyland California: The Heraldry Shop
Shopping in Fantasyland at Disneyland California really DOES include the "very unusual." Here, you see a photo of the Castle Heraldry Shoppe. It's an adult-oriented store devoted to family coats-of-arms. (Except for a quick glimpse of the cool suit-of-armor, this place will bore children quickly...so the Disneyland Heraldry Shop is a good place for adults to browse without the little ones along.)In Disneyland's Heraldry Shop, you can enjoy browsing through the coats of arms...and pick one if you don't have one. You can get a simple souvenir, or purchase a more high-end, luxury framed copy for your living room wall. Men may tire of Fantasyland's devotion to princesses from the days of yore...but they'll perk right up again when they see what tempting merchandise the Heraldry Shop offers to the "brave knights" in your group. Have you ever wanted a decorative sword with a highly ornate hilt? You've just found a great shop for finding one! Or, how about a hatchet-style weapon, polished to a luster and sporting golden trim? Are there knives, as well? You bet! Take your pick from a selection of very elegant styles! In fact, everything you'll need to decorate your den in a masculine medieval style can be found within these walls!
Another unique store you'll see if you're shopping in Fantasyland at Disneyland California is the Three Fairies Magic Crystals Shop. This shop, directly underneath the Disneyland Castle, carries a type of etched glass souvenirs. The outside of the glass stays smooth, while the "carved" design is buried on the inside. You may choose from pre-selected designs...such as Disneyland scenes...for your souvenir. Or you may have a special one made which bears your picture!
What could be more interesting than your own name? So, a visit to this store may well prove to be an absorbing---and enlightening!---addition to your day. Shopping in Fantasyland California: The "It's a Small World" Toy Shop
Looking for toys while you're shopping in Fantasyland at Disneyland California? The "It's A Small World" toy store is just what you're waiting for.As you step off the "It's a Small World" ride, you'll have the opportunity to enter a related toy store. (You also have the opportunity to AVOID entering the toy store as you leave the ride, too.) This particular toy store features dolls and action figures of the popular Disney characters. Adults will also be pleased to find figurines and collectibles. Below, you see dolls of Belle (from "Beauty and the Beast") and Ariel (from "The Little Mermaid), supposedly when they were children. (Of course, dools of the other Disney Princesses---such as Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White and Tinker Bell---are available, as well.) My granddaughter chose the doll "Little Belle," and considers it one of her favorite toys. It's durable and has kept its "new" look well, though the small pieces included in the set have become scattered.
Fantasyland Dining: The Village Haus Restaurant
Here's an exterior shot of the beautiful, quaint, old-European-style Village Haus restaurant. This is a counter-service fast-food restaurant where you can order favorites such as chicken strips, burgers & fries, or pizza. Entree prices are in the $7-8 price range. There are also several children's meals you can order here, which are a good deal at $6 each, including choice of drink and a souvenir. One fun meal for children here is the "Mickey Mouse" shaped chicken nuggets. As you can tell from the photo, you can dine outside in a lovely patio under a colorful umbrella. California weather, being pleasant year long, makes outdoor dining a possiblity whatever month you vacation here. There are plenty of indoor tables. The interior is "Pinoccio" themed, and you'll be able to see artistic renderings of Pinoccio and his pals inside. In the photo at right, you can see the ordering counter inside the Village Haus restaurant in Fantasyland at Disneyland, California. Happy dining!
