When does it make sense to shop at a year-round Southern California costume store for your disguises and supplies?
1.) When you're a frequent costume user: It may not be Halloween except once a year...but Halloween is not the only event when people have the chance to dress in disguise. What about the yearly Renaissance Festival? Do you like to have more fun by attending in a historical period costume? Or, what about Christmas---does anyone in your family play Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus or an elf? What about Mardi Gras? Does anyone travel to an area which celebrates with parties & parades (and you'd prefer to have your costume ahead of time, rather than hoping you'll find one at the last minute in a strange city?) For frequent costume users, developing a relationship with a local costume shop's staff is a good way to get service that goes "over and above" what the average one-time shopper will get.
3.) When you're body isn't a "standard" size: Even people who only need costumes on Halloween might enjoy choosing their outfits from a year-round costume store. If you think that clothing & department stores seem to carry a limited amount of sizes, their selection of sizes is absolutely huge compared to the limited range of Halloween costume sizes. With nationally-distributed Halloween costume brands, it's common to see sizes such as "Adult medium," "children's small"...or even "one size fits all." Now, we all know that the phrase "one size fits all" should REALLY say, "One size fits some people." For anyone who wants a larger or smaller-than-average costume size...or simply a costume that fits the wearer's body more perfectly...year-round costume stores can be the right place to go. Halloween Club...a local tradition
Even though stores with websites were the ones selected for this page (so you could check to see if you like their merchandise BEFORE you drive to them,) there's one store without a website that really should be mentioned. It's The Halloween Club, and it's a huge, warehouse-sized store that stands out in its class. Hey...inside here, it's Halloween all year long!When the costumers and set decorators from the popular TV show, "Desperate Housewives" needed to create a realistic-looking Halloween-time filming set...many months before October!...where did they turn? To The Halloween Club! And when Los Angeles stores annoy you with their before-season Halloween displays at the end of August, where's a likely place that they got their supplies? Once again, at The Halloween Club. In fact, the film industry and big business are 2 ways that this Halloween specialty store makes a living year-round. (Well, along with the fact that they do offer other seasonal decorations, as well, during Halloween's "slow season.")
Some families make it a tradition to head to the Halloween Club every year. There's a good reason why. If you want to find a store with a big lineup of costumes in many different sizes and brands, you won't find a bigger display than at the Halloween Club. It's a pretty "child safe" place, too. The rows of children's costumes are laid out at the front of the store, so kids won't have to pass flirty costumes or blood-dripping ghouls in order to make their selections.
Nevertheless, the Halloween Club is also a headquarters for scary and bizarre items...in costumes, accessories, and home decorations, too. They have a large selection of realistic-looking latex masks...and even a black-light room to display their glow-in-the-dark Halloween merchandise.
The Halloween Club address is 13310 Firestone Blvd, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670. This location is in plain view from Interstate 5 just north of the Carmenita exit. Still, it takes some wiggling around on these oddly-laid-out streets to reach it. Here's a Google map to the Halloween Club store, which you should study if you've never been there before.
