The River at Rancho Mirage is certainly one of the most visually stunning places in all of Southern California for dining and taking in a movie theater show.
Located in Greater Palm Springs, this open-air mall has perfect winter-time temperatures for enjoying a stroll through its lovely grounds. (Naturally, during the summertime, an evening visit to The River will be more comfortable.) Shopping is available at The River, but the highlight at The River is its dining and entertainment. You'll be able to choose from a number of restaurants at The River itself...or you may choose from a number of other restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Following your meal, you'll probably wish to enjoy a flick at the all-stadium Century Theaters...or simply enjoy the free entertainment provided in The River's own attractive amphitheater. The River at Rancho Mirage has its own amphitheater where, from time to time, various musical groups or soloists perform for the enjoyment of the visitors. Also, special seasonal events are held in the amphitheater. The schedule of entertainment for The River's amphitheater schedule of live entertainment may be found on the center's official website. (See link below.) Despite the interesting local performers which appear in the amphitheater, The River's main focus for entertainment is the center's Century Theaters. The Century Theaters feature 12 all-stadium-seating auditoriums. Seats are plush, comfortable and large. The theater boasts well-to-wall screens in each auditorium, as well as state-of-the-art digital sound systems throughout. The Century Theaters at The River feature bargain matinee prices daily. Mondays through Fridays, the matinee prices apply to all movie showtimes before 6 pm; and on weekends, the discounted price applies to showings scheduled before 2 pm. Children ages 3 thru 11, plus Seniors age 65+ receive the discounted price on all showtimes, whether they're matinee or evening performances. The River's Century Theater phone number is 760-862-9997.
