Track Flights easily---here's how!

Taking Natali and Gabriel to the airport for their flight home to Denver You can track flights easily with software on an amazing website called FlightView. I'll place a link on this page to send you over to the FlightView site, but first let me tell you all about its "I-can't-believe-this-technology-is-possible" features.

If the commercial airline flight you're tracking is already in the air, you'll see the FlightView system in its full glory because...you can track flights while they're still in the air and SEE THE PLANE'S WHEREABOUTS on a map! Can you believe it's true? It is!

On the Flightview website, there are 2 maps from which to choose. One map is updated at intervals, and the other is updated continually, so that you'll see your friend's flight in its actual "right-now" position. The Flightview map which is updated only at intervals loads with split-second quickness, so that's why you'd prefer to choose IT, even though it's not quite as up-to-the-minute. On the other hand, Flight View's Live View map will give you absolutely current information about the flight you're tracking, but it takes about 30 seconds to load...which seems like 30 MINUTES when you're twiddling your thumbs waiting for it!

Not only can you track flights on a map, but you can ALSO find out the LATEST ESTIMATED ARRIVAL TIME for the flight you're watching. Underneath the Flightview map, you can check a "stats box" which shows 4 things---

***The time the flight you're tracking was SCHEDULED to leave its "home" airport

***The time this airline flight ACTUALLY left. (In other words, you'll know if the plane you're watching was delayed before it even took to the air.)

***The SCHEDULED time this flight is supposed to land at your local airport.

***The ACTUAL time the flight will probably land, based on the time it left and weather conditions the plane will encounter along its route.

Track flights all over the USA

Although I'm writing this page to help you track Los Angeles flights into LAX/Los Angeles International Airport, John Wayne (Orange County) airport, Long Beach California Airport and the Bob Hope (Burbank) California airport (after all, Los Angeles IS the theme of this website!), you can use the Flightview airplane flight tracker to watch for arrivals from any foreign or domestic airline into (or out of) any United States airport.

Sorry if you're watching from an airport outside of the United States---this site doesn't yet track flights within other countries...not even the USA's closest neighbors, Canada and Mexico! Given the technology this software possesses, I figure that it's CAPABLE of tracking international airports. I don't know why it doesn't.

How to track flights with FlightView

When you click through to FlightView's website to track flights using their software, you can search for your flight BY ITS FLIGHT NUMBER.

What if you don't know the airline's flight number? NO PROBLEM! You can just select the AIRPORT OF DEPARTURE and the AIRPORT OF ARRIVAL...then choose an approximate landing time...and the site will pull up a list of ALL the flights going between your 2 selected airports during the time you specified! From there, all you have to do is recognize the flight that you want, click on it, and you'll get your map and stats! Great, isn't it!

What if you'd like to see this spectacular flight tracking technology in action, but you're not awaiting the arrival of a flight right at this moment? No problem! You can have the program select a sample flight for you to view. OR, you can create a list of flights going from any airport of your choosing...TO any other airport. Just click on ANY flight that says "in air," and you can pull up a map of that flight and watch its progress.

On the map, you'll see a line between the "departure" and "arrivals" cities. That's the FLIGHT'S ROUTE. You'll also see a little white airplane affixed to that line. This little plane is showing you where the flight you're tracking is in relation to its total route. If you check back again later, you'll see that the little airplane has moved---and you're flight is getting closer to landing!
