Universal Studios dining & restaurantsFrom light snacks to hearty meals, Universal has it!Many restaurants at Universal Studios Hollywood!Yummy---pizza and pasta!
Universal Studios dining opportunities give you many options from which to choose. On your left, you see a photo of Louie's Italian, a restaurant specializing in pizza and pasta.Personally, I've eaten here several times and have enjoyed the food. One of Louie's pizzas can feed a family of 3-4, so it's economical as well as tasty. They also serve individual pasta dishes here, if you're not in the mood for pizza. I like the way their food tastes like "real home cooking" rather than typical fried fast-food fare. You'll find that many of the cafes in Universal Studios Hollywood feature patio dining. Since the weather in Southern California is pleasant on most days year round, these lovely patios are practical as well as loaded with "atmosphere." Universal Studios Dining -- Movie-themed Jurassic Cafe
Another Universal Studios dining opportunity is at the Jurassic Cafe, located next to Jurassic Park the Ride. (Another restaurant not far from the Jurassic Park ride is the Panda Express, seen in the photo slide show at the top of this page.) Main dishes at either one of these two restaurants generally run in the $8 to $10 range.
Here in this photo to your right, you see an attractively landscaped patio where you may bring your food after ordering at the Jurassic Cafe. The Jurassic Cafe is another of the 3 Universal Studios restaurants participating in the "all you can eat" pass program. Universal Studios Dining -- Cute Flintstone's Cafe
The Flintstones Cafe is another reasonably-priced fast food restaurant on the list of Universal Studios dining spots. You'll order at the window, then take your food---once again--- to the outside dining tables. The cute "Flintstones" cartoon theme makes this a fun restaurant to enjoy.
The BBQ chicken meals at The Flintstones are both tasty and reasonably-priced. To further add to this spot's "cuteness factor," this topiary "statue" of Dino the dinosaur lends its delightful presence to the dining patio. Universal Studios Dining -- 50's style Mel's Diner...and more!
For '50's-themed dining, you can head to Mel's Diner. You'll find the typical diner fare here---hamburgers and cheeseburgers, hot dogs, french fries, chicken, and OF COURSE, milk shakes made with real ice cream. These delicious shakes are so thick that you can stand up a straw in them!Mel's Diner is another of the 3 restaurants participating in the Universal Studios Hollywood "all you can eat pass" program. (To sum things up, then, those three restaurants are: Louie's Italian Pizza & Pasta, The Jurassic Cafe, and Mel's Diner. Two more restaurants are included on this pass seasonally---during the busy summertime season, only.) To accompany your meal, not only can you order regular French fries, but also the popular-with-teens chili fries. But one big reason that families come here is to split an old-fashioned "amusement park" favorite, the FUNNEL CAKE! Mariachis sometimes play at Universal's Cantina! If you're lucky, you'll be able to enjoy a delightful musical performance as you eat. As you see in the picture of the mariachis to your right, sometimes the presence of these musicians adds a fun touch of entertainment to your dining experience here.
Other restaurants and snack bars at the Universal theme parkAs you can tell from the pictures in the slide show at the top of this page, there are still MORE restaurants and snacking opportunities that haven't been mentioned on this page! Hot dog-lovers will enjoy grabbing a wiener at the Dodger Dogs cart. Popcorn fans will enjoy the creative selection at Univeral Studio's Popcornopolis store. Ice cream lovers won't want to miss stopping at Ben and Jerry's, which has a location within Universal Studios Hollywood (on the upper level.) You'll find still other snack carts hanging around in convenient locations throughout the park, along with a few other restaurants, as well. Not all restaurants are open year-round; some open only during the park's busy summer season.
