Valentines Day at Disneyland,
Downtown Disney, and Knotts Berry Farm
While the happy, smooching couples of Southern California spend hours trying to decide which one of the many Valentine's Day dinner specials they'll choose, we family-style Valentine's Day celebrants are left more or less "high and dry!" There's barely enough going on for families to write a web page about...but if I DON'T, you might waste your time calling around to all the same places that I did. Save your dialing finger! Valentine's BuildABears all year long on EBay!
If you were unable to make a Valentine's Day stuffed teddy bear at a Build A Bear store last February, don't worry! You can still get one...although, not at your local BuildABear location. Valentine's Day stuffed Build A Bear teddies come up for auction nearly every day of the week online at the EBay website!Just below, you'll find a widget which shows you all of the Valentine's Day Build A Bear auctions going on RIGHT NOW on EBay. The widget "magically" updates itself, so that when these particular auctions have ended, new ones appear! Some days, you may find exactly the very Valentine's Build A Bear animal or clothing that you want...and other days, you may not. That's the way it works in the world of online auctions!
Valentines Day at Knott's -- The Knott's February discount special
During the month of February, Knott's Berry Farm sometimes offers Valentine's Day specials. For 2008, a Valentine's discount special for couples has been announced! For a lovey-dovey good time, 2 adults may enter Knotts for the low price of $25/each. (This Valentine's deal at Knott's is only good when 2 tickets are purchased.) This "Sweet Deal" special will run from February 4th through March 2, 2008.
Knott's Berry Farm has also announced Valentine's savings for the whole family, too! From February 4th through March 16th, 2008, you can get Knott's Berry Farm coupons at Baskin Robbins ice cream stores. With the Baskin Robbins coupon, entrance tickets to Knott's Park will be $23.99. Kids (age 3-11) and Seniors (age 62+) cost $17.99.
Valentines Day at Disneyland -- generally "just a normal day"
Disneyland reps in years past have told me by phone that there's nothing special planned for a family-style celebration at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. Rats! Personally, I'd like to see them celebrate with decorations and activities, similar to the way the park has begun celebrating Halloween in recent years. Alas...ain't gonna happen. Yet! Hopefully, the Disneyland Resort will figure out that families like to celebrate the Valentine's holiday, too!
However, heading to Disneyland Park DOES make a very romantic outing for parents who choose to celebrate "just the 2 of us" style. The lights are romantic, and everything looks so beautiful at Disneyland. Standing by the Snow White wishing well is a special treat...few crowds are around, and couples can spend a moment snuggling in the shadows of Disneyland's beautiful fairy tale castle!
Disneyland Park does sell cute Valentine's Day merchandise! If you'll be giving gifts to your family for the occasion, what could be cuter than Mickey and Minnie Mouse Valentine's Day presents? You can see 2008 pictures of Valentine Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse to your left and just below on this page. Collectors look forward to Valentines Day at the theme park because there's always cute new merchandise every year.
Here are the Valentines Day 2008 Disneyland hours of operation...including some of the days both before and after Valentine's Day, so that you may choose which day you'd like to celebrate---
HOWEVER, DISNEYLAND WILL CELEBRATE YEAR OF THE MOUSE! Though many people are sad that Disneyland isn't doing anything (except selling holiday merchandise) for Valentine's Day, at least there will be another small celebration going on: In honor of Chinese New Year, Disneyland will be celebrating the Year of the Mouse! Between February 5th and February 29, 2008, you will be able to see Disney's Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse characters wearing Asian outfits! (Also, though this event wasn't at the theme park, Mickey Mouse lovers saw Mickey serving as the Grand Marshal of the 109th Annual Golden Dragon Parade and Festival in Chinatown, Los Angeles, on February 9!)
Valentines Day at Disney's California Adventure
Just as its sister-theme park, Disneyland, there usually aren't any special activities planned for Valentines Day at Disney's California Adventure. HOWEVER...whenever Valentine's Day falls on a weekend, Disney's California Adventure is also a good place for parents to celebrate alone. Like Disneyland, the lights are beautiful, and "just being there" is romantic for those who are young at heart. In addition, Disney's California Adventure has an upscale restaurant in which parents can enjoy dining during their evening out on the town. (When Valentine's Day falls on a weekday, however, the park closes too early to enjoy a "parents night out" here.)

Valentine's Day at Downtown Disney
What could be a more natural place for parents to celebrate Valentine's Day than at the Downtown Disney District? There's a wide variety of cuisine styles available at the Downtown Disney restaurants---and the out-of-town crowds are thin (so you can actually have some elbow room!) Families, however (especially families with little girls,) may want to celebrate by making a Valentine's Day Build A Bear animal at Downtown Disney. In the slide show below, you can see pictures of the 2008 Build A Bear Valentine's Day limited-edition stuffed animal...which happens to be a puppy dog.

Plan to find a whole range of specialty merchandise for Valentine's Day 2008, just like there has been in years past. Each year, some of the Build A Bear Valentine's Day items are brand new styles...either new Valentine's holiday animals, new Valentine's Day clothing, or BOTH! Also each year, other Valentine's styles aren't new, but include returning "favorites" from recent years past.
Watch out---every year some of the Valentine's styles at Build A Bear Workshop are going to be special "collector's edition" merchandise...which will only appear for ONE Valentine's Day holiday period! If you see something you like that's marked "collector's edition, you'd better grab it! (After Valentine's Day, it will disappear.)
In the photo on your right, you see a Valentine's Day pillow that you can purchase as an extra accessory for your stuffed bear (or giraffe, or pony...whatever you choose to make.) In the picture of the Valentine's Day pillow, it's difficult to see what you're supposed to do with it. Actually, you strap it to the front of your stuffed animal (after it's already dressed in the outfit you choose for it.) That way, you can take the pillow off of the bear after the holiday.
If the Valentine's Day strap-on pillow doesn't interest you, there are plenty of other holiday-gear choices at the Build-A-Bear Workshop. You'll find, for example, Valentine's Day sashes that your bear can wear, instead. Or, you can get an entire Valentine's Day outfit. There are a number of holiday dresses and pants outfits from which to choose, including the Valentine's Day "Love" outfit being "modeled" by this stuffed monkey (in the picture to your left.)
