Bakersfield's Reading Cinemas are the "star of the show!"
One of the best theaters in Bakersfield to see a movie is at the Valley Plaza Mall's Reading Cinemas (formerly owned by the Pacific Theaters.) You'll be able to enjoy your movie in an all-stadium theater, with other amenities you'll enjoy, as well. You'll view your show on larger-than-average screens, and hear your favorite film on digital sound systems. Handicap facilities are available throughout, and you'll notice a good selection of munchies available at the cinema's snack bar. The seats you'll sit in are plush, as well, being both wider and softer than the seating used at older movie houses.
The Reading Cinema's address is: 2000 Wible Road, Bakersfield, CA 93304. Though the cinema uses a different address than Valley Plaza, it's still at the mall...just in back of it. (Wible Road is the frontage road that runs between the theater and the CA 99 Freeway.) If you're coming in from Ming Blvd, simply turn into the mall between the Sears & the Sears Auto Center and keep heading to the rear of the property. You'll find plenty of free parking surrounding the theater...though you still may not get a close spot on a busy weekend afternoon or evening when everyone in town seems to be heading to the movies!
