Travelers along the CA 78 Freeway will find a lovely surprise awaiting them at the Vista Village shopping center. Located just a stone's throw north of the highway, visitors may stroll through a creekside park, enjoy numerous dining choices, peek through shops in the center's "cutesy" open-air strolling area, take in a movie at a top-notch Krikorian movie theater, play at The Wave water park...or simply go shopping at one of several popular stores.
The Vista Village center's structure is rather mixed. As you first exit the 78 Freeway onto Vista Village Drive, the shopping area appears to be built like a "power center" or "big box" center. The Village's largest stores (like Lowe's Home Improvement, Staples office supplies, Frazier Farms Market and Linens N Things) are the first sights you'll see.
Nevertheless, one visitors start exploring this interesting shopping, dining & entertainment destination, they'll find a lovely greenbelt meandering alongside a babbling creek---the ideal place for passersby to let their kids (or pets) "get the wiggles out." (You can see this charming park-like area in the photos to your left and right.) Heading into Vista Village further, guests then reach the open-air "downtown" section of the "mall", where little shops line the streets---just begging to be explored.
Hungry tourists will love the Vista Village center for its great choice of restaurants, from fast-food and table service offering meals featuring full meals, to the little snack shops dotting the village which are just right for ordering a "pick me up" type snack.
Vista Village is a destination that's best enjoyed when The Wave water park is NOT open, however. On a hot summer's afternoon when the park is packed with hundreds of guests, parking spaces will be very tight. (The same thing can be said for weekend nights, when the Krikorian Theater packs 'em in for date-night performances.)
