AMC MOVIE THEATER finally open at Plaza Bonita! This long-awaited & highly anticipated cinema opened recently to enthusiastic crowds! May 16, 2008 was a day many residents & visitors to greater San Diego will long remember---it was the official opening day of the brand new Plaza Bonita AMC 14 Theaters! (Military members got a special free preview screening on May 13th, and other kick-off festivities helped promote the theater's grand opening celebration, as well.)The AMC Plaza Bonita 14 Theaters feature all-digital projection! That means, all your favorite films shown in digital-only formats (such as 3D Nightmare Before Christmas) will be able to be shown here. Even if the film you want to see will also be shown on film projectors elsewhere, you can head to the Plaza Bonita AMC to see a digitally-projected version...that has more than 4 times the resolution of an expensive HDTV set! (Just when you thought that nothing could top your home theater system's clarity!) 3 of Plaza Bonita's AMC auditoriums are giant-sized! These super-sized theaters have screens which are more than 3 stories tall and over 50 feet wide so you won't miss a bit of the action. Naturally, plush love-seat style chairs and stadium seating are the rule in this terrific new AMC cinema location. LARGE BORDERS BOOK & MUSIC STORE now open at Plaza Bonita! This is no ordinary Borders store! Is the new Borders Book Store shiny & new looking? Of course! But there's more going on here than may first catch your eye. Borders has very recently begun opening a type of store which it calls its "concept stores." The first of these new concept stores only debuted in February 2008, making Plaza Bonita's Borders location one of the first in the nation to receive this honor. New digital and internet options are a key difference with the new Borders concept stores. An in-store "digital center" will enable customers to mix and make their own custom CDs, download books and music, publish their own books, explore their family history, and create photo books. The new Borders at Plaza Bonita also features the same comfy, "make yourself at home" atmosphere which has made Borders popular in the past---including chairs for customers to sit & browse, and a cafe for relaxing and refreshing. Other exciting changes are taking place at Plaza Bonita, too! A major mall "facelift" is underway that is bringing a shiny-new look to this shopping center. As of Spring 2008, many of the renovations are already completed...but new stores are still yet to come! Keep your eyes peeled, for you'll soon be seeing a new Target store, and several other new shops will be moving in, as well. Naturally, as you shop during 2008, you won't be able to miss seeing workers, construction and other "signs of progress" at the mall.
