Wild Rivers--lease extended through 2010 season!

Picture: Wild Rivers water park features tall, fun slides Wild Rivers water park is a popular summertime attraction in Orange County, California which has hundreds of ardent fans. And, we can all be thankful to these fans for the very fact that Wild Rivers is open this year. How so?

Well, Wild Rivers does not own the land on which it sits. The Irvine Company does...and Wild Rivers leases its spot. In 2007, The Irvine Company informed Wild Rivers that its lease would not be renewed. (The Irvine Co. wants to build houses on the land, instead.

Wild River fans flew into action...and protested loud & clear against this action that would rob hundreds of families of a major summertime recreational outlet. Through the effort of these park die-hards, even the local government got active with this concern. And the result? The water park was allowed a year's time for Wild Rivers to try to find a place to relocate and rebuild. So then, Wild Rivers was able to operate for its 2008 season.

But what about the 2009 and 2010 summer seasons at Wild Rivers? The good news for water park lovers came, strangely enough, because of the recession. Due to the economy's downturn, the housing development scheduled to be built on the land where Wild Rivers sits has been delayed. Phew! Wild River's lease is now secure through October 31, 2010!
